This week was about reduction…
The challenge was to paint this dog using just indian ink. No paints, no colours, just greys and blacks by diluting the ink with water.
It’s interesting that when you remove choices, you can actually be more creative because you only have the limited palette to work with
And simplifying things in life can often be beneficial to create the outcomes we want.
It is all too easy to get caught up in the busy-ness of everything, of life and everyone and everything around us.
Overwhelm – too much going on to make sense of or deal with – is still a common thing I work on with clients.
If you’re struggling with overwhelm, and things are getting on top of you, here are three key things you can do that will help:
1 – Hit Pause!
First and foremost… STOP! It might seem counterintuitive, but taking time out and doing something else actually helps because you are getting out of the wheel-spinning and focused on something that energises you.
2 – Do A Brain Dump
Whether you use to-do lists or not, the second thing to do is to write out EVERYTHING that is on your mind… the lists of things to do, the things that are worrying you… everything you can think of. This helps you get out of your head. Seeing things written down can bring clarity and make it easier to prioritise.
3 – Know It’s OK!
We ALL go through periods of time when things seem too much for us to deal with. It’s ok, it’s a cycle. And as we go round the cycle there is a better time ahead. And by taking a step back and writing things down is taking control of the situation.
It can be scary when you’re in the middle of all of the emotions and anxiety of stress in the moment, but it will pass… if you choose to do something about it.
With love xx
