This week’s painting is another portrait, this time in black, white and greys, focused on creating detail through the use of shadows of varying intensities.
Every reference picture I have looked at before starting to paint has given me something to think about as the resistance builds and sometimes the panic sets in…
… but with this one, what stood out for me was the simplicity of what we were working with… just shades of grey (I haven’t counted them, but don’t think there are 50 🤣).
Often we have a tendency to overcomplicate things when we would actually fair better if we just keep things simple, and just go with what’s necessary.
When we stick to the less complicated, we appreciate what we have more and can give more focus to what is really important and really matters.
Are you overcomplicating things in your life?
If you are… slow things down… simplify things… appreciate what you have… and ask yourself what else you can simplify.
Leading a stressful life – regardless of who or what the stress is coming from – is a matter of choice. You choose to lead that life because you choose not to do anything about it!
Make that change 🙏❤️
Whereas before we built texture with paint, for this painting, we built texture using shades of grey and different brush strokes. Just black and white mixed to create the shades of grey needed.
