No lesson this week… but I did a painting anyway!!

I wanted to do another canvas painting and chose to do a scene that played with light and silhouettes. Ever since I did my dog painting in black and greys I’ve wanted to extend that further using background light in colour… and this was what I came up with.

It was fun pulling together reference pictures that looked at light and silhouettes and then visualising the final image before I put paint to canvas. The result is incredibly pleasing.😁

I can’t believe that it is almost a year since I first put a brush to paper. Since I started my lessons back in April last year there have only been a few weeks where I haven’t painted, and this is the key to improving anything… practice.

Yep, we all know it, but how many of us consistently do it in the areas of life we want to improve?

How many of us start with the best intentions, see the benefits, and then as time goes by, the intention and motivation get dropped for a day, then two and very soon you’re not doing it anymore?

If you want to change something… it takes work.

If you want to improve something… it takes work.

If you want to master something… it takes work.

It used to be that someone who wanted to master something was apprenticed to a ‘master’ for 7 years before they would even be considered as having mastered the skill to a significant level.

Many of us – and I do include myself in this – find it hard to continue something for 7 months let alone 7 years!

Why is this?

Because we live in a world of ‘instant’ gratification. If we want something, we want it and expect it now. and that might work for material things, but what about changing a belief, habit or behaviour that may have been with us for 40 years or more?

To change ourselves and overcome our limiting decisions we need to put the effort in. Every day. Every week. Every month. Whatever it needs.

Yet when we put the effort in, over time, the results can be truly breathtaking, life-changing and incredible.

What would you like to master in your life but are struggling with right now?

If you’d like to find out more, I invite you to drop me a line. Success starts with a decision. 😊

With love xx
