This week was a complete change of focus.
For the next few weeks, we are studying the styles of different artists and then creating our own pieces “in the style of…”
This time we looked at working artist Anne Desmet, who is famous for line drawings in architecture (though to be fair, I think I also drew on my inner Quentin Blake!)
There are so many things I’m learning about life through my painting, as you may have gathered if you’ve been following my posts.
Probably the biggest learning has been about perspective.
With my painting, I’m looking at things with a completely different eye than I did six months ago when I started.
And in life, I’m regularly looking at things differently, because I’m ALLOWING myself to take a step back and look at particular situations from different angles.
(There’s a great technique in NLP called “Perceptual Positions” which allows you to look at situations from a different perspective to give you clarity and insight!)
Often, it just takes looking at a situation from a different point of view to change everything. For example, one of my mastermind colleagues Gary has been trying to sort his daily work schedule for two years, trying different things. During the conversation in our last session, I suggested an alternative way of focus which has now changed the way he works: “Delighted that I have finally got my daily work schedule sorted…”
This is one of the things I love about coaching… Enabling people to look at things from a different perspective rather than staying stuck in a rut.
It can change your life.
Why not come and try it sometime?
With love xx
