Recently, I made an 89-year-old lady cry… 😢

I didn’t mean to…

Let me just step back a couple of weeks…

Our friend Jill (the 89-year-old lady in question) had seen the painting I did of my sister’s Westie, and asked if I’d be willing to do a painting of her French bulldog Eric who passed away a couple of years ago.

I said, sure, no problem. I asked her for a selection of photographs that, to her, summed up his character, which she did.

I hadn’t actually planned a painting for that week, so I just dived straight in.

Sarolta and I had arranged to take her out for the day and we’d invited her to come back for supper, and I thought I could give her the painting at the same time.

So, fast forward again…

We had a lovely day out and arrived back home and got Jill settled, and I went and fetched the painting for her.

She took one look and her eyes welled up with tears…

“Oh my, that looks just like Eric. Hello Eric,“ and she kissed the painting. 💜

I share this story, not so much for the painting this time, but more for the impact it had.

When you can touch someone as deeply as that painting touch Jill… That is what life is about. For me, that is me being on purpose.

Whether it’s through painting, coaching, mentoring or just a conversation, it is my hope (and my intention) to connect with and move someone in a deep and significant way.

I know I have with many past and current clients, and I know I have with some conversations…

It’s all too easy to get stuck in the “busyness“ of life and caught up in our own stuff. Yet it doesn’t take a lot to connect with and move someone in a significant way which will have a lasting impact on them.

Who do you know who you could spend a little time with where it would make a difference to them?

Much love xx
